A surprising little surprise

Once again I was out and about on the weekend entertaining as Pirate Jack at one of my many fun kids parties in Sydney.

As usual I arrived all ready and excited, carrying my big chest of surprises with me.  After hiding the donkeys (yes, we use donkeys to get around from the ship in the harbor to your door..) in another house’s back yard, I asked my crew to wait for me until I come back! They are always curious to follow me to the door those funny ones but I make it clear to ‘em it is impossible for ‘em to join! I do not wish to leave a messed up house after all..

And so I approached the gate.. amazing!! somebody turned the whole front yard into an ocean with big blue waves all around and a shark swimming in the water too!!  The only way to cross from the gate to the door was a cranky wooden plank! Just like the one on my ship. An old scary sign said – ‘enter if you dare’..   oohh.. I like it when I feel at home!!

So I walked the plank, I did, and further I walked.. The shark was swimming down under.. and finally I have reached to the other side.

A big black pirate flag was hung on the door.. and so I have opened it.. and there in a quiet hall stood mrs Robinson.. ‘No one has arrived yet’, she said, ‘I’m so sorry but if no one shows up any time soon, I’m afraid we’ll just cut the cake and sing a single birthday song.. alone..’

I felt I had to do something immediately about this!! A birthday party without party guests??  No no no.. this cannot be! I was about to turn and fetch my crew when suddenly twenty little party kids jumped from their hiding places and shouted – ‘Surprise Jack!!!’.. And with smily, happy faces stood there oh so proud!

Yerrr.. they sure did give Jack a little scare! ..But the good kind!

Kids parties in Sydney are always a surprise.. ‘How about a game, anyone? You might get an awesome prize!’
